TELL YOUR MP IT'S TIME TO RECONSIDER SIZEWELL C

This is a critical time for Sizewell C. The new Labour government has an opportunity to pause and reconsider the project, whatever Union-backed statements they have previously made.

Building a constituency of new or re-elected MPs who oppose or are sceptical about Sizewell C can really help. Please help us reach as many as possible by writing to your MP, urging them not to back Sizewell C for the following reasons:

  • it cannot help the Labour government achieve a net zero grid by 2030, taking 10-12 years to build
  • it will increase bills and load risk onto households during its lengthy construction
  • it would make a hole in the public finances, when the new Chancellor says "there's not an awful lot of money"
  • it is almost certain to take longer and cost more than planned
  • it won't improve energy security, being an unreliable reactor and dependent on overseas states (France, UAE)
  • it will create relatively few long term jobs, while construction will draw skilled workers away from other technologies, and cause damage to the local economy.

We have provided bespoke template messages which take account of MPs' relative knowledge about the project and their parties' position on nuclear in general or Sizewell C in particular, but you have the option to include a message about why this campaign is important to you - see next step.

(NB Julian Lewis of New Forest East is the only MP excluded. No email address is available as he has a policy of not dealing with email correspondence)
